My PSP started running slow after I added the new memory stick, what should I do?

I have only a 16gig Sony Memory Stick for my PSP 3000, and now the whole system is very slow. I have tried to update the system but that has not helped. What can I do?

SanDisc is better than the sony ones in terms of SPEED, you might want to try reformatting your memory stick, (if you do that it will deleate every thing so back up on computer) also if you are running custom firm ware check your vsh menu by hitting select in the home menu, and change the cpu speed as fast as it gets or to default. Also if you are running cfw update to the newest version 5.50 gen-b.
Also unflashing your themes might help if you have custom ctf themes.
haiz i am using sandisk and it is not laggy i belive u are using sony if u are pls change it to sandisk just go bak to the shop and refund telling them that it is slow if remember ACT PITIFUL AND BEG THEM
The PSP supports up to 32gb and there should be no problem. You might have bought a Mark 1 memory stick which might be slow with the PSPs (shouldn’t make too much of a difference though.) Check your memory stick to see if on the front it says Mark2. If it doesn’t it’s a Mark 1. Try buying an M2 memory stick to see how that goes.
If it shows Mark2, you might have bought a fake memory stick. If you bought your MS for less than 55 USD, it’s most likely a fake, and if you bought it from eBay, it’s almost definitely a fake. Highlight the folder Video, Photo or Games and press triangle. Select Information and look at what it shows. If it says MagicGate: Supported, it’s not a fake, if it says MagicGate: Unknown, it is a fake, and that’s probably the reason why. If it is a fake, try to return it as soon as possible; fakes tend to break easily even if they can hold 15gb.
If it’s none of the above problems, you might have to try to format your memory stick. Memory Sticks should be formatted to give maximum memory space, writing/reading speeds and etc. Go to Tools>System Information>Format Memory Stick. Make sure you backup or copy any files you want to keep before formatting. Format your memory stick and try again.
If that doesn’t work, you either have a defective memory stick or a PSP.
Some of the above people might have the right solution too, but I’d recommend doing all of the above first to see if it fixes it. Check if it’s MagicGate supported first to see if it’s a fake, then format the memory stick then buy a new one of necessary.
The PSP doesn’t support 16Gb memory sticks, the latest updates gave it support for 8Gb and that’s it. You need to buy a memory stick built for the PSP.
yeah 16GB are very buggy and are know to crash
I had one and it took nearly a 2 min to load it!
i would recommend using a 1-8GB
What’s happening is that the system is trying to read all 16 gigs of memory and that is bogging down the CPU speed. What you need to do is return that memory stick to where you got it and go with an eight gig memory stick instead.

try a different memory card. Same happened to me. But don’t get the sony get sandisk.
