Remember that scene in Legend of Zelda where Link eats Ganondorf’s heart to silence the demons haunting the young Hylian about his brutal childhood? No, of course not, that was censored. What about the scene in Pikmin portraying the plant society as being built around fascist ideals and Olimar becoming their goose-stepping overlord? No, ’cause the was censored too. Both of these instances make sense when compared to the removal of the word “damn” from the Metroid Prime Trilogy . In the video after the break, which appears to be authentic, an innocent “damn” found in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was altered to a “no.” We’ll be gosh darned if that ain’t the most golly gee willikers silly-faced thing we’d ever done seen. The trailer for Audio Inc.’s new DS game Sakura Note leans heavily on the “nostalgia” angle, showing images of Japanese kids on summer vacation, running around town to the sounds of cicadas and a somber Nobuo Uematsu piece. Even the gameplay description, which refers to “simple action buttons,” is a callback to the Famicom era. The in-game footage, with its combination of lush, hand-drawn backgrounds and pixelated sprites, makes us nostalgic — for Audio’s last game, Contact . This is the first real look we’ve had at the new game, and we’re glad to see it’s as lovely as the artwork. As for the gameplay itself, it features segments in which you control a cat or a dog, and includes some mechanic involving collecting a boss’s tears . Sony has some great news for gamers today, as the Blu-ray compilation disc of God of War and God of War 2 is now a reality, and is coming this Holiday season. “For those that recall the God of Wa r survey conducted earlier this year, an overwhelming amount of the community suggested the PlayStation 2 experiences of Kratos be brought forth to the PlayStation 3,” the company wrote on its official blog . “Thanks to your feedback, we are excited to announce the God of War Collection for this Holiday Season.” The games are now running 720p, with full anti-aliasing, running at 60 frames per second. Both titles already looked good, but giving them the full PS3 treatment will give the graphics a nice bump for our modern eyes. There will also be trophy support added for all you completists. The best part? The collection will run you $40, and that gets you both games. This is a great way to get gamers hyped about the third installment in the series, and a great excuse to get us playing the games one more time.

Marvel Comics, the publishing/entertainment powerhouse has been purchased by the even-bigger entertainment powerhouse, the Walt Disney Company. The deal, valued at approximately $4 billion, will involve both cash and stock transactions. In a conference call on August 28, the acquisition was announced and detailed: Marvel’s shareholders will receive not only $30 per share they own, as well as 0.745 Disney shares for each share of Marvel they own. Both companies are getting a lot out of each other: Disney is getting a catalog of over 5,000 characters and every associated property, while Marvel is going to have access to the behemoth that is Disney’s worldwide marketing power. While Marvel is set to fall under the (very large) Disney umbrella, it seems Disney is going to be taking a hands-off approach to the management of its latest acquisition, as Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter is still set to oversee the Marvel properties.
